Sinan-Paddak Philippines Sword Knife bolo Filipino dagger no Moro, kris, barong

Description

We are offering a sword from the Northern Philippines. According to a reference book this sword is from the Ilocos region and is named Sinan Paddak. Sadly the previous owner took a grinder to the blades edge. Fortunately the blade still has material to have it smoothed out without much compromise.
The hilt is carved out of Carabao horn. At the top of the hilt is the peened tang, stacked triangular copper(?), washers are used to lock it in place. The horn is delaminating due to its age, see close up photo. It isn’t distracting. The octagonal ferrule is copper.
Blade and hilt are tight together.
Original leather scabbard is present.
