    Description
This is an antique Brass Water Container canteen that was used while travelling. A very compact and convenient travel accessory. The traveller would fill the canteen with drinking water, insert the small nested glass tumbler (as in picture 4) and then the lid. When thirsty, the traveller would unwind the lid, take out the tumbler, pour some water into the tumbler and drink from.
A screw-on lid with a fitted nested glass/beaker/tumbler. It appears to be 75 or so years old, and all of its constituent parts are made of brass.
Initials of the owner are inscribed on the canteen, lid and the glass.
Brass Canteens such as these were used by soldiers of the Indian Army to store & carry water prior to India's independence. It was also used on pilgrimages and travels to the river Ganges and bring back the holy water by Buddhist monks.
